Doctor Who - The 50th Anniversary Collection

This annotated track listing is accurate for all the material available on the four-disc and two-disc sets, though is just speculative for music exclusive to the eleven-disc set. We will confirm and update the notes when the full album is released later in 2014. Follow @TME1998 for updates.

Disc Nine

42 minutes' music across 21 tracks. All of the Ninth Doctor-era tracks from Doctor Who - Series 1 & 2 were included, except for the track 'UNIT'.

2:58 appeared on both the 4CD and 2CD collections, across two tracks (7% of the 11CD material).
THE NINTH DOCTOR – CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON (2005)
Music by Murray Gold

All the music from the modern era of the show was taken directly from the soundtrack albums released by Silva Screen from 2006-2013. Mark Ayres explained to Radio Free Skaro how he had hoped to include a disc of unreleased material from the Ninth Doctor era, but that Murray Gold was not keen to revisit his early scores, feeling that the material already released was definitive. There was no previously-unreleased material here, and no re-edits or shortening of tracks (though there was on Discs Ten and Eleven).

22.
Behind the Sofa (from More Than 30 Years In The TARDIS) (2:25)
A suite of music from the documentary, much of which was featured over the Photo Gallery on the 2012 DVD. Ayres told Radio Free Skaro how it was Silva Screen's idea to complete the short-running Disc Nine with unreleased Classic Series material, and the iTunes exclusives from the New Series albums. Ayres had been particularly pleased to find a home for the full-length Keff McCulloch theme (below), which would otherwise have been left off the collection.

23.
Doctor Who 1986 (2:54) - Arranged and Performed by Dominic Glynn
This was the single version of the 1986 theme, first released on 12" vinyl and cassette in December 1986 (b/w the 1972 Stereo Theme and the Cosmic Remix by Mankind) and then on 7" in November 1987. It was first released on CD on The 25th Anniversary Album, and a brand new 5.1 and stereo remix was included on the Trial of a Time Lord DVD in 2008.

24.
Doctor Who 1987 (2:37) - Arranged and Performed by Keff McCulloch
The full-length version of the 1987 theme had only ever appeared on The World of BBC TV Themes compilation in 1989, so this was its first appearance on a Doctor Who album.

25.
Back to the TARDIS (version 1) (from 30 Years In The TARDIS) (1:04)
The original incidental music for the closing sequence of the documentary, paying homage to The Trial of a Time Lord. This cue was also used in The Curse of Fatal Death in 1999 to score the apparent death of the Doctor. It had not previously been released in any format.

26.
“...and somewhere else, the tea's getting cold” (from “Survival”) (0:21)
27.
Back to the TARDIS (version 2) (from More Than 30 Years In The TARDIS) (0:54)
The re-scored version of the same scene, continuing the music from the end of Survival (which was included here for good measure!); this cue had also been included on the DVD Photo Gallery in 2012. The original video was one of the best-selling Doctor Who titles, exceeding 25,000 tapes, making this music as recognisable as any from the Classic Series.
